An example of intervention
1/ The demand
A multinational enterprise is about to merge its Belgian and Dutch sections. The word is that the entrepreneurial culture in these two countries is very different. There are fears that the Dutch section will «crash» the Belgian. The human relations groups are called on for the change. All their colleagues are waiting to see what happens! We are asked to animate the first encounter between the two groups.
We have to :
● help them to get to know each other
● generate connections
● help to establish relations of confidence
● add a playful dimension
● open the paths to exchange and change.
There will be a debriefing about the workshop, which will constitute the basis for the afternoon exchanges, animated by the DRH.
2/ The workshop
At the start, each participant chooses an instrument to explore individually. From this cacophony results a lot of good spirit, as there is absolutely nothing to prove to anyone.
Contrasting personalities are becoming obvious. Certain participants draw attention with the loudness of their instruments. Others remain in the background. The animator observes the situation and proposes to try different relations between the instruments. He guides the participants to put themselves in a situation of « open listening », and then helps them, as a musician, to find musical equilibriums. He builds, in particular, on each participant’s perception of the quality of the harmony attained by the group.
In a second stage, three groups are constituted, each with the task to freely create a piece of music, working with all the musical observations that resulted from the first part of the workshop. The participants, guided by the animator, observe the various strategies adopted by the subgroups. Various setups are proposed and tested.
The workshop concludes with a complete debriefing, on the basis of questions prepared during a meeting with the DRH.
3/ The yield
Coming out of this workshop, the participants succeeded in making music together, create a musical harmony, and this without knowing how to play an instrument.
In the afternoon, they have looked at the triggers for this small miracle: to have allowed to try, trust in oneself and others, listen and rebound. With their managers, they made the connection between this experience and their daily reality.
